    The purpose of this internship is to prepare college juniors and seniors for entry into the business world by providing a thorough understanding of the various functions of the Zebra Technologies organization to include theory and practical application of attained knowledge.


    Project work will differ in each area depending on business needs, and all interns will participate in the US Zebra Internship Program. The program is designed to provide you with a full experience so that you can fully envision a career with Zebra. You be positioned for success with training, exposure to all parts of the business, social activities, a professional mentor relationship and development sessions to help you discover your own performance edge!


    Business Operations PMO supports product cost reduction programs and annually saves $10M+ by doing part, product, and tool qualifications on sustaining products. Currently five PMs from the PMO team are actively engaged in these cost reduction projects which improve product margins by reducing current Direct Material piece part price on various products. Strong cross functional problem-solving, Project Management, and communication skills are leveraged with business unit and sustaining engineers(ECRT) based in Holtsville to synergistically drive multiple cost reduction projects.  These cost reduction projects require a intern who can lead a cross-functional cost reduction project team with team members in Asia and Mexico.


    This intern will need solid engineering fundamental courses completed to work with the many disciplines in these teams. A Project Management, Global Business Operations intern can leverage prior collaborative intern experiences working with mechanical and electrical product engineers, supplier quality engineers, product quality engineers, supply chain professionals, and commodity managers.The intern will apply engineering problem solving methodologies and the fundamentals of Program Management to facilitate cost reduction projects from initial project definition through the cost reduction project life cycle. He/she will coordinate engineering and manufacturing engineering sample and product pilot builds in Mexico and China as well as product qualification testing with ME/EE in Holtsville, NY.


    • Develop cost reduction project mission, scope, goals, and cross-functional prokect plan-Gantt charts.
    • Conduct weekly cross-functional meetings via Skype and maintain action registers to support project life cycle. 
    • Onboard the product portfolio and understand

    • Current enrollment in an undergraduate/graduate Bachelors of Science degree program in either Mechanical or Industrial Engineering. If an undergraduate, must be at the junior or senior level.
    • Ability to review part 2D-3D CAD files/drawings.
    • Intellectual curiosity with a strong desire to learn and grow
    • Proven leadership and excellence in professional, academic and/or extracurricular experiences

    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

    • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship

    Desired Skills: 

    • Microsoft Project experience
    • Prior Bill of Material exposure 
    • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning is a plus
