  • Overview

    The purpose of this internship is to prepare college juniors and seniors for entry into the business world by providing a thorough understanding of the various functions of the Zebra Technologies organization to include theory and practical application of attained knowledge.

     

    Project work will differ in each area depending on business needs, and all interns will participate in the US Zebra Internship Program. The program is designed to provide you with a full experience so that you can fully envision a career with Zebra. You be positioned for success with training, exposure to all parts of the business, social activities, a professional mentor relationship and development sessions to help you discover your own performance edge!

     

    The Firmware Test Intern will be an integral member of the test and development team performing activities such as tool design, test automation, software development, documentation and firmware development support. They will be a member of a dynamic, high performance team responsible for driving test innovation and improvements for Zebra products.

    Responsibilities

    • Design, develop, and debug automated tests and test infrastructure consistent with company and departmental standards and procedures.
    • Document designs and software, update preexisting documentation, as appropriate, annotate designs with pseudocode, and source statement commentary.
    • Test products under simulated field conditions.
    • Perform manual tests.
    • Work with engineers in firmware, software, electrical and mechanical engineering groups to test and debug products.
    • Keep up to date with developments in the field of test, software and language design, security and best-practice.
    • Investigate problems and recommend solutions for difficult design decisions.  Implement or assist in implementing any required corrective action.
    • Advise and assist developers in the design or modification of firmware.
    • Accurately estimate time to complete tasks.
    • Perform other test-related duties as required

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor Degree-Related Major (i.e. Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields.)
    • Proficiency in Python, C++, C, Java, or other object-oriented language. Python experience is highly desired.
    • Interest in embedded software.
    • Familiarity with Object-Oriented design, software design patterns, data structures, design documentation, and debugging tools is desired.
    • Strong communication skills, including the ability and willingness to pair-program.
    • Current enrollment in an undergraduate/graduate degree program in a discipline related to the project specifics. If an undergraduate, must be at the junior or senior level.
