    The purpose of this internship is to prepare college juniors and seniors for entry into the business world by providing a thorough understanding of the various functions of the Zebra Technologies organization to include theory and practical application of attained knowledge.


    Project work will differ in each area depending on business needs, and all interns will participate in the US Zebra Internship Program. The program is designed to provide you with a full experience so that you can fully envision a career with Zebra. You be positioned for success with training, exposure to all parts of the business, social activities, a professional mentor relationship and development sessions to help you discover your own performance edge!


    Software engineering intern to design and develop system software for various mobile computing products, including ruggedized enterprise smart phones, based on customized TI OMAP, Intel, and Qualcomm hardware platforms.


    Responsibilities would include a combination of the below:

    • Develop framework extensions, applications, and other system software on mobile operating systems such as Android
    • Develop low level device drivers and/or kernel modules on Android
    • Develop supporting tools and applications for enterprise-grade scanning, imaging and multimedia technologies
    • Benchmark cutting-edge technologies and create reports
    • Work with other engineers on triaging and fixing customer facing defects

    As you will be working in small project groups and regularly interacting with various internal and external teams, excellent communications and teamwork skills are essential. 

    You will be involved in all areas of development: system specification, requirements, design, implementation, testing, and validation. We hire results-oriented problem solvers who push the envelope and wish to explore new concepts in the mobile space.


    • Current enrollment in an undergraduate/graduate degree program in a discipline related to the project specifics. If an undergraduate, must be at the junior or senior level.

    • Strong problem-solving abilities
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

    • Ability to collaborate as part of a team
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, & PowerPoint)
    • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship

    Required Technical Skills:

    • Smart phone development experience (Android a plus)
    • Fluency in Java and/or C/C++ programming
    • Driver Development experience (Ideally in Android, Linux, Unix or Windows)
